WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS NOW IS HOPE

The problem today is the level of anxiety, fear, and uncertainty. It seems that society and individuals as a whole are feeling less hope. Messages of Hope is a full-day conference, Saturday February 5th in Los Angeles at the Radisson Hotel, 6225 W. Century Blvd. This event features four inspirational speakers as well as in-depth interviews conducted by Jill Lublin with extraordinary people who’ve overcome challenges, inspired others, and have Messages of Hope to share.

Be elevated by the profound and healing perspectives of inspirational leaders such as Bill Bauman, PhD, noted psychologist, speaker and best-selling author of Soul Vision.
Be encouraged by the challenges and triumphs of such self-made individuals as Loral Langemeier, known as ‘the millionaire maker’ and the founder of Live Out Loud.
Become energized about the future through the contagious optimism of inspirational dynamos such as Peggy O’Neill, life-coach, diversity trainer, and certified psychotherapist, or Cynthia Kersey, author of the best-selling book Unstoppable.
(Note: this is only a partial list. For the complete list of speakers and their biographical sketches, visit http://messagesofhope.biz/)

“It’s an important time to give people inspiration and hope. This is my purpose for doing the conference, to touch people’s hearts and uplift their spirits,” says Jill Lublin, conference promoter/presenter. Jill is the author of three best-selling books including Guerrilla Publicity (Adams Media), Networking Magic (Adams Media), and Get Noticed…Get Referrals (Mcgraw-Hill). Jill has helped thousands of people get their messages heard, and is an international speaker on how to be influential.

This event provides a forum where conversations of hope and possibility are shared and expressed, and people engage with new focus on the ability to see and co-create a new future with confidence and joy. It will be a full day of laughing, singing, learning, and connecting.

Early-bird registration is $67 per person, or two for $97.

1000 Breaths Press Release

For Immediate Release

A SPECIAL FUNDRAISING EVENT TO BRING PEACE AND BENEFIT PROSTITUTED CHILDREN

With a high-minded goal to reach a world-wide audience for the sake of eliciting inner peace, and to raise funds for a life-changing documentary, the buzz is starting for a global event that promises to bring peace to all participants, and bring awareness to a tragic reality taking place on our own streets.

According to UNICEF, two children per minute are trafficked for sexual exploitation in the world. According to the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Work, approximately 300,000 children in the U.S. are at risk of commercial sexual exploitation. Some organizations have estimated this number as high as 800,000, based on a Congressional testimony in 2005. Teens all over the country are being recruited from local shopping malls, schools and the Internet to be manipulated or forced into prostitution.

So what can be done? For one – people can simply breathe. This according to Legacy Productions’ event planners, Jim Ellis and Jennifer Geronimo, who are producing the world-wide event 1000 Breaths; A Special Fundraising Event to Bring Peace to Our World, Dec. 31, 2010 in San Diego. Their vision is clear: New Year’s Eve Day, 11 a.m. PST, 1,000 people (or more) taking part – via radio simulcast or in person at San Diego’s prestigious Scottish Rite Event Center – in a special, large-scale “breathwork” session.

The breathwork process – lead by 20-year certified “breathwork facilitator” Ellis, along with a number of support personnel – is a stress management technique that has served millions across the globe dating back to its use as “pranayama” in ancient India. In its modern format, participants lay down on a mat, close their eyes and take in deep, conscious, connected breaths in order to go deeply within. In this state – experienced over an hour time period – participants go direct into a higher state of awareness and return to a state of peace.

Ellis says the inaugural event – planned to be an ongoing annual affair – will be a time for people all over the world to embrace inner peace, but it will also help raise funds to produce a documentary curbing the trend towards child sex exploitation.

“Indoctrinated,” the educational documentary film aimed at prevention, will be shown to children and their parents with the purpose of revealing the indoctrination process used on prostituted children, increase awareness of the violence that impacts sexually exploited youth, and educate youth and families of the recruitment tactics, signs and indicators of child sex trafficking. With a vision to take the documentary to middle schools across the country, already six San Diego schools have expressed interest in showcasing the film.

Whereas many celebrities – such as Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher, Shirley MacLaine, Susan Sarandon and Sarah Jessica Parker – are championing the cause of stopping child sex trafficking, this documentary will be able to go direct to the audience needing to be warned about the horrors taking place in our community.

Said Ellis, “Besides the obvious benefit of preventing the further abuse of our prostituted children, this event is a chance to take one hour out of your busy, hectic, stressful life and share a time of inner peace and relaxation. It is going to be a great experience for not only people individually, but for a world in need of some stress relief.”

Watching it Build

I think Jim is going to tell our fun story about visiting Doug Destefano on his blog (http://sites.google.com/site/healingthroughbreath/news) so I’ll share another moment from our 1000 Breaths outreach this past week. Our goal is to literally tell the world about this event.

On our way to a Thai restaurant for dinner on Friday we were driving by our 1000 Breaths champion and friend John Misno’s house. Jim decided to swing by… John had no idea we were parked right next to his car… after much waving and window knocking finally I got his attention… he was a little surprised (though of course happy) to see us and was coincidentally on his way to an event with his brother so we had the opportunity to give him some 1000 Breaths flyers to pass along.

This past week we have seen our highest number of registrations so far. Our intention is to have that number increase and increase each week. You can now register for both the in person event in San Diego and the online simulcast at:
www.life-enlightenment.com/events.html

And Jim and I will continue to accost friends and do whatever we have to in order to get the word out about this important event. If you feel inspired to help us, let me know! And don’t forget to register!!

Where Did the Time Go?

Wow, I can’t believe how long it has been since I posted anything on the blog. July was a magical whirlwind! Every day presents an opportunity to learn and grow. Here are the top 5 tidbits I took away from the last month.
1. Always listen to your heart and soul (not necessarily your head).
2. Find a balance between all areas of your life.
3. Dream and live each day to the fullest.
4. Be bold and courageous.
5. And since July is my birthday month… celebrate your birthday big – you only have one day a year that is all yours. Make it special!

Create an incredible August!

Top Three Business Tips for Today

Three experiences from the last couple weeks that were little lessons I wanted to share…
* Now that we are in the days of caller id… always check your voice mail before calling someone back. Several times I will leave people messages specifically answering a question they had or requesting a particular follow up time… and then instead of listening to the message I left the person will call back because they saw I called without listening to the voice mail first. It is important to listen to the voice mail before calling again….
* Check your time zones! It is so easy to get time zones defined for you very specifically online. I find that people can be a teeny bit lazy to check where they are calling before they pick up the phone. Since I do business with people all over the world, I make sure not to call people outside of their business hours no matter where they are located. Also, when setting up appointments with people in different time zones it is so important to check the conversion as to not miss your appointment or call at the wrong time.
* Use the name of the person in the same way they introduce themselves. I can’t tell you how many times a day people call me “Jenn” when I ALWAYS introduce myself as “Jennifer” and never go by “Jenn”. Would you call someone who introduces themselves as Cindy, Cynthia? Would you call someone who introduces themselves as Debbie, Deborah? Probably not – so I don’t recommend calling Jennifer – Jenn, or Deborah – Debbie, or Cynthia – Cindy, etc either – call people by the exact name they introduce themselves to you as.

With Much Success,

Being in a Service Business

I have recently had to request referrals for someone to handle some repairs in my home. One of my long time clients referred me to the person she uses. Calling this person I didn’t think twice because of who referred him to me… well first call instead of just scheduling a time to come by to look over what I need done and give me an estimate, he says he needs me to call another number and leave my address and times the following week that would work for me. So… although that seemed odd, I did so – call the number he asked me to, left my address, and said anytime EXCEPT Wednesday afternoon and Friday works for me next week. So… an entire week goes by before I hear from him again… and then when he does call me, he calls me at 9 pm at night after I already have the phone turned off for the night. On his voice mail, he says he’d like to come by at 8:30 am on Friday and NOT to call him back after 9:30 pm ever….. so…. now we are at red flag number two. I would have been fine if he just said he didn’t have time for any new clients or wasn’t interested in taking on the type of project I needed done…. Whatever…. But now I feel like my time is being wasted – and I am not going to run around in circles for someone I will be paying. So today I left a return voice mail saying I am not available on Friday mornings like I originally said, left him availability for next week, and told him I do not answer calls past 6 pm so it is best to call during business hours to get me live. Now… let’s see where things go from here. At this point, I will probably just ask a couple other people for referrals. But it got me to really thinking about how I address inquiry calls about my own business. I often do not have room in my schedule for new contracted clients and really try to be upfront about that. And I do try to get back to people within 24 hours if they call or email me. I think I handle the inquiry calls well, but to be honest I am now going to be conscious over the next week to see if there are any ways I might be able to improve those communications.

Wishing you a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

What Does it Take?

A question I have been asked several times over the last couple weeks is… what does it take to manage speakers and authors? The answer that immediately came to mind is persistence, drive, and creativity. There is so much competition for speaking engagements and media opportunities – it really is a combination of professional persistence, the drive to succeed, and creating uniquely powerful pitches.
